Samsara The World Academy held its 3 rd Annual Sports Day on Saturday, 10 th December, 2016 with great
aplomb and splendour. The zeal and enthusiasm regarding the different events was evident in the eyes
of all the students and facilitators of the school. The Chief Guest for the day was Brig. Retd. H. J. S.
Chimney, a hockey team member who was a part of the Indian Hockey Team which won the Hockey
World Cup in the year 1975. He is presently working with Maharaja Ranjit Singh Institute. The Guest of
Honour was Mr. Pramod Batla who had represented India in the Asian Games(Bangkok) and had won
the Bronze medal. The Managing Director of Samsara, Mr. Vikramjeet Singh Shastri along with the
Director, Mrs. Ketiki Shastri were present for the occasion to encourage the students. The event was
also presided by the Principals of different Meerut Public Schools.
The day began with a March Past by the four houses- Aristotle, Beethoven, Shakespeare and Tagore
displaying the importance of unity and discipline, followed by a colourful drill with umbrellas and
hoola-hoops by the tiny –tots of Samsara. The students showed their mettle in various field events like
Lemon and Spoon race, Three-legged race, 400m, Relay race and many more. It was a joy to see the
students participate in the various events with great fervor. The students of classes 3-5 put up a great
show with the lazims and dumbbells which left the audience mesmerized. The girls of classes 6-10
displayed the spirit of unison and touched a chord in every heart with a colourful Pom-Pom dance.
The programme culminated with the encouraging words By Brig Retd. H. J. S. Chimni who appreciated
the team work and efforts of the students of Samsara . On this occasion the students-Rudra Pratap
Singh, Saksham Goyal, Jyoti Rani and Milind Sharma ; who brought laurels at the National and
International levels were also felicitated. The Managing Director of the school, Mr. Vikramjeet Singh
Shastri and Director, Ms. Ketiki Shastri wished the students a bright future and told them to keep
striving hard and never let their dreams die. The Principal, Capt. Praveen Roy, praised the students for
their hard work and thanked the guests and parents for taking out time and helping to make the
programme a grand success.
