A workshop on ‘Teaching English language ‘ was conducted by SARVOTTAM INTERNATIONAL school on 30th August,2019 in association with Oxford University Press. It was attended by Ms. Naina Dhingra, Ms. Hina Hussain, Ms. Suman Silwal, Ms. Neelima Tyagi and Ms. Rashmi Saxena.
The resource person was Ms. Gayatri Khanna, who has eighteen years of experience in teaching and is presently a Consultant and Resource person in CBSE and NCERT.
The topic was “Incorporating Learning Outcomes and Assessment in Classroom". The expert explained the changes incorporated by CBSE in teaching methods with the entire focus on Learning Outcomes. She discussed three important parameters- Diagnosis, Feedback and Feed Forward. Diagnose the learning gaps, take the feedback of parents and children and feedforward, which is instead of rating and judging a student’s performance in the past, we focus on their learning and development in the future. She also spoke about integrating Art and Value education with each lesson. She discussed the different types of Dictations like, Shadow dictation, Memory dictation etc. for improving comprehension skills. Teachers were also guided how to encourage silent reading in classrooms. Numerous worksheets were provided to teachers so that they thoroughly understand the parameters discussed. The Workshop has left our teachers enlightened and motivated towards incorporating these learning outcomes and Assessment in classrooms.
