As an ode to all the women , Samsara-The World Academy celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2021, in the School Auditorium.
It was an occasion for us to appreciate how much has been done and what more needs to be done in the field of gender equality.
Dr. Anupam Raj , Consultant Anaesthesiologist, was the eminent chief guest for the day. She was welcomed and honoured by our students and Principal Capt. Praveen Roy.
The celebration was inspirational to all the students present as the Chief Guest encouraged women to appreciate themselves. Dr. Anupam Raj, in her address to the gathering, highlighted women’s achievements in all fields. She also shared her life experiences to bolster the courage of women. She emphasised that women’s roles should not be limited to a well defined perception box and gave the example that how crying is a very healthy expression of feelings for both girls and boys. If we tell boys not to cry, they may begin to suppress, avoid or shut down these emotions.
The significance of the Day was explained to the students by our Principal ma’am who gave real life examples and inspired the young girls and boys to break the stereotypes and prejudices around us. She encouraged them to share responsibilities with their mothers and sisters at home. She informed them that in the work space women still receive lower salaries than men in equivalent roles, so as future leaders they should bring the change and empathise with their women colleagues.
The celebration left all the students motivated and ended with a Vote of Thanks by Vaishnavi Pandey of Class VI.
