Classroom Management of Behavioural Problems

“Everyone should have an opportunity to learn in a positive environment, to enjoy the learning process, and feel comfortable and content with it.” Barry Saide

The ultimate goal of education is to mould students into well-rounded individuals. For this, the teaching and learning process must flow smoothly. However, in a classroom, one of the biggest obstacles the teacher may face is dealing with behavioural problems.
To address this issue and to learn positive behaviour management strategies, Samsara-The World Academy organized a workshop on ‘Classroom Management of Behavioural Problems’ on 17 December 2021. The school counsellor, Ms Megha Sarin, told various ways to deal with behavioural problems in the classroom. She advised the teachers to stay calm and try not to take the disruption personally and also emphasised using positive and encouraging language in the classroom, as it makes the students feel respected, leading to better behaviour.
She educated the teachers to get to know the students individually, as it would identify some triggers for behavioural problems.
She said that the children, especially those with ADHD, learn better when they are given frequent opportunities to move throughout the day.
It was an informative session and a learning experience for all the facilitators.
