' Special Assembly on Diwali '

Deepawali or Diwali is the festival of lights that is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil.
Times have changed but the essence of this festival with its core values is still relevant to this time and occasion.
To mark the celebration, the students of Class V from Samsara-The World Academy, under the able guidance of their class teachers presented a very colourful and joyous assembly on 5 November, 2018.
The students presented a speech which elaborated the five day celebration of the festival in its full fervour. It starts with Dhanteras and ends after Goverdhan Puja.
They enacted a scene from Ramayana, when Rama was to return to Ayodhya after the exile of 14 years. It showed the zeal and enthusiasm with which the people in the kingdom decorated their homes with colourful rangolis. They lighted clay lamps and diyas outside their houses to brighten the darkest night of Amavasya and welcomed their beloved Rama with Laxman and Sita amongst them.
The play had values of Lord Rama , grace of Sita, beauty of Goddess Laxmi and power and divinity of Lord Ganesha.
The students also shared a social message. They requested to opt for eco- friendly Diwali and to use diyas instead of Chinese lights. This will provide an opportunity to our craftsmen and their families to smile and to enjoy this festival with equal happiness as we do.
At the end, the students of Class VIII presented Nukkad Natak on the theme" Crackers free Diwali" . This play was very much appreciated and well received by the audience for its content and presentation. It said that Diwali is not the occasion to burst crackers and contribute in noise pollution and air pollution, but, this festival in its true sense symbolizes to remove the darkness which surrounds us in the form of ignorance and come in the light of knowledge.
The Principal Captain Praveen Roy, congratulated the students and the teachers behind this successful assembly.
She persuaded everyone to follow the values and virtues that raised Rama, a prince born in human race, to the pedestal of being acclaimed as God.
It was a beautiful assembly which was both colorful and joyous as well as held the message of the festival very aptly .
