Samsara – The World Academy organised a POCSO Awareness Workshop for students of Classes IX and XI to familiarise them with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and key aspects of child safety.
The session was conducted by Ms. R. K. Usha, a resource person from Apna School, an NGO, and Ms. Shakti Mathur, lawyer. They discussed personal boundaries, safe and unsafe touch, recognising inappropriate behaviour, and ways to seek help.
They emphasised the importance of understanding personal safety, recognising potential risks, and reporting instances of abuse to trusted adults or appropriate authorities without fear or hesitation. The session also highlighted the significance of online safety, children's rights, and the legal provisions established to protect children from sexual offences.
The workshop concluded with a quiz and an interactive question-and-answer session, giving students an opportunity to clarify their concerns and strengthen their understanding of personal safety and protection.
